the fact that the study area extends from the Alexandria Metro Station on the Virginia side to the L’Enfant rail station on the District of Columbia side, a distance of about 8 miles. This should provide an opportunity to evaluate alternative river-crossing locations that would hopefully be able to separate commuter and passenger from freight rail operations.
