With public release of Mayor Bowser’s FY 2026 Budget expected soon, the Committee of 100 on the Federal City reiterates a request made recently in a letter to the DC Council underscoring the need to give the public sufficient time for review and comment. The proposed budget was due April 2, 2025. The Committee of 100 is extremely disappointed with the delay, which upsets the normal budget process.
In the letter, the Committee of 100 urged the Council to ensure, notwithstanding the delay, that the period for public review not be compressed. Further, the Council should be willing to delay consideration of any controversial items, such as provisions in the proposed Budget Support Act, if more time is needed to fully understand their ramifications.
