Monumental Core Streetscape Framework and Lighting Policy

Comments on the National Capital Planning Commission’s (NCPC) draft “Monumental Core Streetscape Project-Urban Design Streetscape Framework and Lighting Policy” were submitted February 26, 2020. These include limiting the current practice of uplighting buildings and suggesting that NCPC follow “dark-sky” principles. Discussion of the design for four key streets (Tenth Street, SW, Kennedy Center area, Pennsylvania Avenue, NW and the streets within the National Mall) was used to suggest the type of design issues to be considered for the avenues and streets in the plan report.
